Next to be interviewed is Jennie Moran, who is our Management Accountant and our Office Manager, she keeps us all in check and makes sure everything is running as it should. Let’s find out more:
Why farming
I saw a job advertised and I applied for it. It looked good – this is the most interesting job I’ve ever had. My favourite part of the job is managing the accounts – I really enjoy spreadsheets and pulling figures together.
How long have you worked for P.X. Farms?
Since October 2020.
What are some of the skills that you use in your daily work?
Accountancy, finances, time keeping. I am very good at being organized and I love a good list. I guess I would also say patience, but I’m not too sure about that – I’m pretty sure my colleagues would say differently!
What is your favourite season and why?
I love Spring. Getting to see everything come to life after winter, walking around my garden, seeing things grow, and finally having the windows and doors open brings me joy. Plus, Easter is part of spring too – I love chocolate!
What is the most interesting thing you have learnt about farming in the last year?
I’ve learned how hard farming is and how you absolutely have to love farming to be in it.
Our team work extremely hard just to produce, dealing with long nights and bad weather. It has its lows but it has its highs too which can be very rewarding.
Now, tell us a little more about you as a person. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what are three things that you would want to have with you?
If I was stranded on a desert island I would make sure I have my dog Bella – she’s a border collie crossed with a Labrador. I would also have my son, and a lifetime supply of books.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
I think if I could have a superpower I’d like to be invisible because I’m really nosy. I like to know what’s going on!
When not in work what do you most like to do and why?
I like to walk Bella, and do some baking – I love to bake!
