Cultivation and compaction
Are you looking to:
-
Reduce your labour cost?
-
Use machinery and implements that are matched for maximum work rates?
-
Increase capacity to meet deadlines for optimum yield potential?
-
Keep up with new technologies for maximum efficiency?
Then we can help
-
CAT Challenger and Topdown (one pass) Cultivator all at a max 6 PSI ground pressure
-
Covering an average 10 acres per hour depending on field size
The Topdown offers an even and thorough mixing on all types of stubbles from winter wheat through to potato tops. We are offering the Topdown on a contracting basis, which includes Topdown, tractor, driver and fuel. The best selling point for the Topdown is that a seed bed is created in one pass, thus saving up to four passes with other machinery such as plough, powerharrow, tined cultivators and rolls. The standard configuration of the Topdown is 2” discs then 6” with the tines and level stars with integrated packer.
Benefits
-
Time/Man hours reduced as less time is required to prepare seedbed
-
Number of passes reduced to one instead of up to 4 prior to the drill as the Topdown does the job of up to 5 other cultivators
-
Labour cost reduced as less machinery is used
-
Fuel cost reduced as less machinery is used
-
Machine wear and tear reduced
-
Reduces compaction due to less traffic
-
Better seedbed in less time
-
Creates a stale seedbed in one pass
-
Tines can be lifted completely out of work if just discing is required
-
Moisture retention is retained due to the integrated press
-
Fitted with GPS to reduce overlaps resulting in reduced compaction andbdelivering straight lines to your field
As soil management is an important part of modern day farming we minimise compactions at Harvest time as the combine is fitted with wide tracks instead of wheels to achieve lower PSI to the ground.
Tracks v tyres
Comparing TERRA TRACs loaded to 12t to allow for their extra weight, with a 900/60 tyre loaded to 10.5 tonnes, the research found that the tracks resulted in a shallower initial rut with, on average, a 65% reduction in soil movement below that.
